VSFX 757 Creature look Dev part 1

Spring quarter 2017.

I propose a demon like creature for my project in this class. Since this is a VFX class, I have to make a high poly character suitable for films which is different from my usual low poly workflow for games. I have only 2 weeks to finish the model before classes begin.

This character was inspired from Domic Qwek's creature artworks. I like the way he designs his creatures with very satisfying skin details to look at. The skin folds and the textures are great for this project. I chose a scary and demonic mood for this project.

I start off directly in Zbrush to design my character with numbers of references. I always have a diagram of anatomy as base reference for my characters. As I build up the silhouette of the character's body, I start to think of interesting ideas for armors and accessories. I want him to look muscular and strong. Perhaps a veteran warrior who has been in many wars. So, his body is going to be full of scars and blood stains.

For a final concept piece, I made a really quick subtle pose in zbrush and make a quick photoshop paint-over to get an idea of the overall character look.
